The lyrics were drawn from real experiences Eric Stewart had in Barbados with Justin Hayward and Graham Gouldman had in Jamaica. [1] It became 10cc's third UK number one and their final UK top 10 hit, also topping the charts in Belgium, New Zealand and the Netherlands. [2] The song has been featured in films and shows including Guy Ritchie's Snatch, David Fincher's The Social Network, and the 2019 Christmas special of Gavin and Stacey. [3]
