"What's Up?", written by Linda Perry, reached No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1993 and topped Billboard's Heatseekers chart along with rankings across Europe, giving it a long-established catalog standing. [1] The song keeps returning through screen placements: it was No. 1 on Billboard's Top TV Songs chart for November 2024 after being synced in the fourth episode of season four of the CBS series "Ghosts," which premiered November 7, 2024. [2] Salon documented in May 2025 that the track continues to recur across culture, from placements in "Yellowjackets" and "Sense8" to the long-circulating fan re-recording synced to 1980s "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" footage. [3]
