"Set Fire to the Rain" was the third single from Adele's album 21 and topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2012, giving it a permanent place in adult-pop and adult-contemporary radio rotation of the kind that drives Estonian airplay rankings. [1] Columbia deliberately built the song as a radio record, servicing it to adult pop, adult contemporary and triple A formats before pushing it to pop radio, after research showed programmers preferred it to other album tracks. [2] Adele still performs the song as a set-closing staple, including a widely reported performance of it during an actual rainstorm at her Munich residency. [3]
