"Fade" is Alan Walker's 2014 instrumental debut, released royalty-free through NoCopyrightSounds on 19 November 2014 so that YouTube and gaming creators could use it freely in their videos. [1] The track was reworked with vocals into "Faded" in December 2015, which topped the charts in ten countries and became Walker's breakthrough hit, keeping the original instrumental in circulation as its source. [2] After Walker's NCS contract lapsed the recording was reissued through the label Corite in 2021, so it remains on streaming services rather than only on YouTube. [3]
