Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The song reached number one on the Billboard R&B chart, where it stayed for four weeks, and won the Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance before later receiving a Grammy Hall of Fame Award. [1] Wexler had originally sought the Don Covay demo for Otis Redding, but chose instead to give the song to Aretha Franklin. [2] The tremolo guitar heard in the song's introduction was played by Joe South. [3]
In culture
Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
