[1] Grande premiered the song live at an Eternal Sunshine Tour show in Montreal days before release, and put out its Christian Breslauer-directed music video on July 31, 2026, in which she answers years of public comments about her appearance. [2] The album's lead single, "Hate That I Made You Love Me," had already debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart after its May 29, 2026 release, setting up the album rollout that "petal" arrived into. [3]
