Christina Perri co-wrote "A Thousand Years" with David Hodges specifically for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, where it scores Bella and Edward's wedding scene, and it has scored the franchise ever since. [1] Perri has said the song was adopted as a real-life wedding song after its release, becoming the track people walk down the aisle and do their first dance to, and analyses of streaming wedding playlists have found it appears on more first-dance playlists than any other song. [2] Lionsgate and Fathom Entertainment re-released all five Twilight films in theaters for the 20th anniversary of the original novel, with Breaking Dawn – Part 1 screening on Nov. 1, 2025. [3]
