The song topped the US Dance/Club Play chart for six weeks, from December 1979 to February 1980. [1] Its strings and horns were performed by MFSB and conducted by Don Renaldo, with Loleatta Holloway featured as a vocalist on some versions. [2] The 12-inch version opens with an extended 4½-minute instrumental intro called "Vertigo," often used by DJs as a floor-filler before the main song begins. [3]
