Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The song hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks, making it Hall & Oates's third of six chart-topping hits and their second of the 1980s. [1] Its handclap chorus turned the track into an audience-participation favorite at live Hall & Oates shows. [2] It was the first single to feature the backing lineup of guitarist G. E. Smith, bassist Tom "T-Bone" Wolk, drummer Mickey Curry, and saxophonist/keyboardist Charles DeChant, and its music video cast the duo as film-noir style trenchcoat-wearing private detectives. [3]
In culture
Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
