Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The song was written for a dream-sequence masquerade ball dance between Jareth and Sarah in the film Labyrinth, and Bowie called it the prettiest and most relaxed tune in the movie. [1] Rolling Stone included it on its list of 30 essential Bowie songs, praising its tender vocal, sinewy bass line and glassy New Romantic synths. [2] The song's steady rising bass motif and shift from a moderately fast 3/4 intro to a slower 4/4 groove give it a distinctive musical structure built on a traditional I–vi–IV–V ballad form. [3]
