Momentum

This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.

Why it's here

The song's line was quoted as an epigraph for John Hughes' 1985 film The Breakfast Club. [1] It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame by the Recording Academy in late 2016 and is one of four Bowie songs included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. [2] It featured Rick Wakeman on piano alongside the musicians who would become the Spiders from Mars, and was the final song David Bowie performed live before his death in 2016. [3]

In culture

Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.

Across markets · earliest pickup first

Every date here is the date the source chart covers, never the date we fetched it. Sources publish on different lags: the Spotify mirror runs about two days behind, TurnTable publishes weekly. One recording, one history: this table also counts the rows sources published under 1 other handle of this record (remasters, official videos).
