"Come On Eileen" spent four weeks at No. 1 on the UK singles chart in 1982 and reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in April 1983, and remains Dexys Midnight Runners' only US chart-topper. [1] In the weeks around 20 August 2026 the band was in an active promotional cycle: after signing to Heavenly Recordings and announcing a UK and Ireland tour in March 2026, they announced in May 2026 their album LOVE — billed as possibly their last — set for release on 4 September 2026, led by the single "My Life In England Pt. 1". [2] The 2026 dates, opening at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall on 20 October, are the group's first shows under the Dexys Midnight Runners name since 2003. [3]
