Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
It is Electric Light Orchestra's highest-charting hit in the United States and their biggest hit there, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. [1] It was the first ELO single to drop the band's signature string section, a deliberate change urged by engineer Reinhold Mack who told Jeff Lynne to "just boogie out for a night." [2] The drum track is built from a tape loop lifted from "On the Run," slowed down and sped up, showing an unusual studio trick behind the song's driving beat. [3]

Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
