Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The song was written by Jeff Lynne under the working title "Dead End Street," with lyrics from that original version surviving in the third verse's line about "livin' on a dead end street." [1] Initial pressings of the 12-inch and 7-inch singles were novelty items pressed in transparent purple vinyl. [2] AllMusic's Donald A. Guarisco called it ELO's first real step into disco, crediting Bev Bevan's steady drumming, pounding piano, swirling strings and overdubbed backing vocals for its dance-friendly edge. [3]
In culture
Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
