Momentum

This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.

Why it's here

It was written and recorded by Eminem while filming 8 Mile, becoming the lead single from the film's soundtrack and his character B-Rabbit's musical backstory. [1] It was the first hip-hop song to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song, and also won Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Solo Performance. [2] The song's music video, filmed in Eminem's hometown of Detroit, won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Video from a Film. [3]

In culture

Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
