Glen Campbell's version topped three separate US charts in 1977 — the Hot Country Singles, the Billboard Hot 100, and the Hot Adult Contemporary chart — making it his fifth and final No. 1 country hit and his second and last No. 1 pop hit. [1] The recording features a distinctive guitar lick Campbell learned from his friend Jerry Reed. [2] It was nominated for Song of the Year by the Country Music Association in 1977. [3]
