Gotye's track is the backbone of Doechii's "Anxiety," which was re-recorded and released in March 2025 built around the "Somebody That I Used to Know" sample, sending listeners back to the original. [1] That sample kept paying out through the following award season: "Anxiety" was nominated at the 2026 Grammy Awards, whose eligibility window covered recordings released between August 31, 2024 and August 30, 2025. [2] The song itself is a durable chart staple, having spent eight consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 after its release, and the late-August date falls around the anniversary of parent album Making Mirrors, issued 19 August 2011. [3]
