"The Reason" is Hoobastank's biggest hit, peaking at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2004 and number one on the Modern Rock Tracks chart, and it was nominated for Song of the Year and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 2005 Grammy Awards. [1] Its ongoing use in short-form video dates to a 2021 TikTok confessional format under the hashtag #NotAPerfectPerson, in which users set admissions of past mistakes to the song's opening line "I'm not a perfect person"; Hoobastank posted their own entry on January 27, 2021. [2] The band continues to perform the song on the road, with Hoobastank booked on 2026 festival and touring dates including the Summer of '99 and Beyond Festival on July 18-19, 2026. [3]
