The song's ad-libbed "la da da dee" hook came about because the writers could not find lyrics to fill that part, so they left the vocal ad-lib in the finished track. [1] It won the 1996 Echo Music Prize in Germany for Best Dance Single and the ASCAP Award in the US for Most Played Song in America. [2] The track has been used across film, TV and advertising, including Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, A Night at the Roxbury, an episode of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, and a Downy Unstoppables ad. [3]
