Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The song's 'wall of guitars' effect was achieved by James Hetfield recording three rhythm guitar tracks of the same riff, with the drums recorded in close to 50 takes using 40 to 50 microphones to simulate the sound of a live concert. [1] NASA CAPCOM B. Alvin Drew used the song to wake astronauts aboard the space shuttle mission STS-123, chosen for Mission Specialist Robert L. Behnken by his fiancée. [2] Mariano Rivera of the New York Yankees routinely used the song as his entrance music, earning him the nickname "Sandman". [3]
In culture
Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
