Band On The Run

Momentum

This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.

Why it's here

The song was recorded amid chaos in Lagos, Nigeria, after the original demos were stolen from the McCartneys at knifepoint, forcing the band to reconstruct the material from memory. [1] Orchestrator Tony Visconti, hired for his T. Rex arrangements, wrote parts for a 60-person orchestra on the track in just three days. [2] Paul McCartney and Wings won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus for the song at the 17th Annual Grammy Awards. [3]

In culture

Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.

Every date here is the date the source chart covers, never the date we fetched it. Sources publish on different lags: the Spotify mirror runs about two days behind, TurnTable publishes weekly. One recording, one history: this table also counts the rows sources published under 1 other handle of this record (remasters, official videos).
