Momentum

This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.

Why it's here

Gabriel wrote the song about a spiritual experience atop Solsbury Hill in Somerset following his departure from Genesis, making it his most overtly personal statement as he stepped out as a solo artist. [1] It was produced by Bob Ezrin and features guitar work by Steve Hunter (after Robert Fripp became unavailable), bass by Tony Levin, and synthesizer textures by Larry Fast, built around an unusual 7/4 time signature. [2] The song has been widely used in film and TV soundtracks and advertisements, including Vanilla Sky, In Good Company, the Finding Dory trailer, the Halt and Catch Fire finale, and ads for Cingular Wireless, Toyota, and Nespresso. Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
