Why it's here
The song's title began as a nonsense syllable Collins improvised over a drum machine while writing the lyrics. [1] The synth-bass and rhythm programming was crafted by David Frank of the System, with horn parts later built around the bassline's motif. [2] It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 by 6 July 1985, the same week the parent album also topped its chart. [3]
