Why it's here

The song's wordless vocal was improvised in a single three-hour session by session singer Clare Torry, who performed two full takes and part of a third that were assembled into the final track. [1] A 1998 Mojo-era account and a 2005 out-of-court settlement led to Torry being credited as co-composer alongside Richard Wright, recognizing her contribution as more than a session vocal. [2] A Rolling Stone readers' poll ranked the track second on its list of the greatest vocal performances of all time, behind "Bohemian Rhapsody". [3]
