Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The song was written for The Breakfast Club by Keith Forsey and Steve Schiff, inspired by a scene in which an introvert and a school bully bond while no one else is watching. [1] It was offered first to Bryan Ferry, Corey Hart, and Billy Idol before Simple Minds—initially reluctant—agreed to record it. [2] It became Simple Minds' only number-one hit on the US Top Rock Tracks chart, holding the top spot for three weeks, and their biggest American hit overall. [3]
In culture
Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
