Momentum

This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.

Why it's here

Sting wrote the song after being inspired by the view of barley fields surrounding his 16th-century Wiltshire manor house. [1] The recording features a harmonica solo by Brendan Power and Northumbrian smallpipes played by Kathryn Tickell, with the basic track cut live in the studio with no overdubs by session musicians David Sancious, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Dominic Miller. [2] Paul McCartney said in an interview that "Fields of Gold" was a song he wished he had written himself. [3]

Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
