Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The Animals recorded their arrangement in a single take on May 18, 1964, opening with Hilton Valentine's now-famous A minor chord arpeggio. [1] The performance—Burdon's gravelly lead vocal and Alan Price's pulsating Vox Continental organ—has been called the first folk-rock hit, credited with changing the face of modern music. [2] Hearing this recording on his car radio reportedly made Bob Dylan pull over and jump out of his car, an experience he said inspired him to go electric. [3]

Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
