A live version of the song was included in both the film and album versions of The Last Waltz. [1] Garth Hudson's playing on the track—spanning synthesizer, brass and woodwinds—was singled out by critic Nick DeRiso as his masterpiece and by Robbie Robertson as one of Hudson's greatest feats. [2] Critic Mark Kemp cited 'Ophelia,' alongside 'Acadian Driftwood' and 'It Makes No Difference,' as evidence that Robertson reclaimed his reputation as one of rock's great songwriters. [3]
