Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The song won the Grammy Award for Best Rhythm & Blues Performance at the 1st Annual Grammy Awards in 1958 and was later inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. [1] It was essentially an improvised jam by the Flores Trio, based on a Cuban mambo song, 'Como Mi Ritmo No Hay Dos' by Cachao, and became a hit only after a Cleveland disc jockey flipped the single to play its B-side. [2] The tune became closely tied to popular culture through Pee-wee Herman's dance to it in the 1985 film Pee-wee's Big Adventure, and remains the University of Washington Husky Marching Band's signature 'dynasty' song played at every football game.
