Why it's here
The song became the Cure's first American top 40 hit and their breakthrough in the US, later described as "the one Cure song everyone seems to know" in American terms. [1] Its instrumental version was used as the theme for the French television show Les Enfants du Rock even before the song was released with lyrics. [2] Robert Smith called it "the best pop song the Cure have ever done," and it inspired covers by Dinosaur Jr. and Katie Melua as well as a 2005 film of the same name. [3]
