Why it's here
The song was inspired by photographs of Robert Smith's wife Mary that he found among the remains after a fire broke out in his home. [1] The music video was shot by Tim Pope using three Super-8 cameras at the foot of Buachaille Etive Mòr in Glencoe, Scotland, during a heavy snowfall in February 1990. [2] In 2011, Rolling Stone ranked the song number 283 on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. [3]
