The song opens the album Disintegration and has been cited as one of the greatest opening tracks of all time, with Vice calling its pairing with 'Pictures of You' one of the most evocative introductions ever committed to tape. [1] The track plays during the climax of the 2015 film Ant-Man, a moment director Peyton Reed said the song's epic quality helped transcend a joke about Siri mishearing a villain's threat. [2] Robert Smith donated handwritten, autographed lyrics of the song to the 'Art of the Song' auction benefiting the Teenage Cancer Trust in 2010. [3]
