Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The remixed version of the song used in Francis Ford Coppola's film Apocalypse Now emphasizes Morrison's vocal track and scat/expletives that are buried in the original 1967 mix, giving a different sonic experience of the piece. [1] The song was recorded live in the studio with no overdubbing, and its guitar solo was later ranked number 93 on Guitar World's list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Solos of All Time. [2] Robby Krieger used an open guitar tuning learned from Ravi Shankar's lessons at the Kinnara School of Music to mimic a sitar or veena sound, giving the track its raga rock character. [3]
In culture
Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
