Why it's here
"Iris" was written by John Rzeznik for the soundtrack of the 1998 film City of Angels, whose two singles — "Iris" and Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited" — went to U.S. radio in March 1998 and were still getting heavy airplay that August. [1] The song set a then-record 18 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 Airplay chart after debuting at No. 66 on April 18, 1998, which is the basis for its permanent standards/catalog standing. [2] On the anchor date the band was in the middle of its 25-city Summer 2026 U.S. tour with Neon Trees, which began July 24, 2026 in Lincoln, California and wrapped September 6 in Uncasville, Connecticut, with "Iris" played nightly. [3]
