Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The song emerged from an all-night session between Jagger and Mick Taylor, who reworked a short guitar piece by Jagger called "Japanese Thing" into the track. [1] Its elliptical lyrics were written during the band's grueling 1970 European tour, capturing Jagger's alienation and fatigue from life on the road. [2] Critic Robert Christgau praised the song for recreating "all the paradoxical distances inherent in erotic love with a power worthy of Yeats" while also carrying a possible drug-song double meaning. [3]

Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
