Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The single became the Temptations' first US number-one hit and the Motown Gordy label's first number-one on the Hot 100. [1] It was the first Temptations single to feature David Ruffin on lead vocals, recorded with the Funk Brothers including James Jamerson's bass line and Robert White's guitar riff. [2] In 2017 the song was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as being culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant, and it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998. In culture
Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
