Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The song was inspired by the 1974 disaster film The Towering Inferno, in which a party in a top-floor ballroom is threatened by a fire below. [1] An accidental error in setting the Dolby noise reduction during mixdown, later corrected by engineer Jay Mark, gave the record a wider dynamic range than was common at the time, making it "jump out" at the listener. [2] The nearly-11-minute album version's inclusion on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack turned it into the Trammps' biggest and most recognized single, and it was later inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
