Houston recorded this pop-ballad arrangement for the soundtrack to The Bodyguard, her film debut. [1] It spent 14 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, a then-record for the chart, and became Houston's first diamond-certified single and the best-selling single by a woman in the U.S. [2] It won the 1994 Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and was later selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry. [3]
