Momentum
This song has not appeared on a Rotation chart, so it has no score and no receipts. The rank history below is the ledger; a score is only published once the momentum run puts it on a chart.
Why it's here
The track builds its verse from a sample of Sister Sledge's "He's the Greatest Dancer" and its chorus from the Bar-Kays' "Sang and Dance," with record-scratching lifted from Whistle's "(Nothing Serious) Just Buggin'." [1] It spent three weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance in 1999. [2] The music video, directed by Hype Williams and shot on the Las Vegas Strip, won the 1998 MTV Video Music Award for Best Rap Video. [3]
In culture
Every place this record has lived. A solid chip states a fact and carries the citation that earns it; a dashed one is a connection somebody drew, and carries their name instead.
